Had a great time at the Unfine Art’s 8th anniversary.
I had a piece hanging in the show—
I enjoyed Honey Vizer’s reading of the manifesto to Shawn’s awesome sax madness—
The Ninkasi and some of the food was delicious—
And I even had an attractive date to bring with me, who was willing to help re-build a bucky ball, and discuss the PNW-china connection with some strangers.
All in all a successful evening.
Crazy Horse
I made this for my friend Jared a while back, and just came across this picture of it.
I used some quotations, things crazy horse actually said (while he was in custody) as backdrop.
I have no idea about the authenticity or whatever of the headdress. I just made what I thought looked cool.
I’d like to draw more like this- portraits of dead heros, I guess. Skully type portraits.
the art I have in my own library
I’ve got a painting by my friend Nora, a photograph my friend Rachel took, and two big collage mounts by louter . I bought one from her after seeing it in person then commissioned her to make a matching one for me. They’re gorgeous.
Her stuff is mde of nature mostly, bits and pieces. But she also paints, adds texture and color in ways that are sometimes surprising and always good for the eyes.Lots of leaves, twigs, tendrils. And then on top of all this nature and decay, electric blue, gold, searing violets or yellow. Amazing stuff. We had a show together at a local place here, it was really nice to see her work alongside mine. I love her art and just can’t see enough of it.
Go check her out, it’s awesome work (and not all that expensive, all things considered)
painting in progress
- In art, artwork, deep thoughts, other media, painting, pictures, step by step, tech,
I usually don’t post paintings in progress, but I am in a generous mood today. So here you have it, some kind of strange bird creature which I am working on. It’s two feet wide by three feet tall so it might take a while.
I’m working pretty fast and loose with this one, just having fun.
I’ll certainly post the finished product when I get there.
Posting unfinished paintings seems a bit like looking at a baby pinky mouse- unformed and kind of ugly. But I guess I’ve let someone film me working start to finish, so I haven’t much left behind the curtain.
Side note: I added information to the “sales” and “about resonanteye” pages, too, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. (Go buy my work!)
ART OPENING!
I’ll be participating in a show at The Unfine Art Museum downtown in Eugene!!!
The opening is tomorrow (first friday, dontcha know) at 6, there will be live music and refreshments, and some of my newer work (lots of ORANGE, lots of pen and INK)
Come on by and say hello, listen and look! I’ll be down there until about eight, hanging out, eating all the refreshments, and listening to some awesome tunes.
Most of my work will be priced a bit lower for this show, since I love the Unfine, and want everyone to come by and get a piece. My work will be hanging until May 14, so if you can’t make the opening you can stop by and check it out til then!
Thanks everyone, see you there!
the art opening, november ’08
My stuff will be hanging at the Horsehead until the end of the month, and I’ll be there again on Friday night for first friday, if you want to come ask me any questions about the paintings, or take another look. If you liked something and want to buy it, ask at the bar- they’re handling sales for the show. It’ll all be there until the 1st of december.
After the jump, some pictures from the opening- it was a great time, thanks to everyone for coming out and to my friends from out of town for coming down to see it!

then, things got…weird. as they always do. nutpunches come after this time.
