I know my work isn’t all tiny bits, easy to use for flash. I hope if you hang it in the shop it gives people some expansive ideas, though.
It was incredibly fun to draw all of these, so really I have already been paid, in GOOD TIMES!

I finished these owls, and I’m working on some roses.
I think I’m going to package these all as a flash set, but I haven’t decided yet.
I finished a red rose too. I’m starting to unpack more.
I’ll be tattooing down at our Salem shop from Jan 13-26…looking forward to that!

[/caption]…and before you know it, it’s all run out.
I watched shawshank redemption, green mile, and miller’s crossing while drawing this.
It’s all colored pencil. This one is slightly smaller, 8 1/2×11″. I almost wore a hole in my fingertip on this one.
I’ve got a few more sketched out, and a few days off from tattooing, so I think I’ll be posting a few more in the next day or two. Off to watch taxi driver, and ice my hand.

The originals of some of these I painted as part of a flash set, (10 sheets) that I did a few years ago- others are more recent. I am halfway through another set of flash, when it’s finished I’ll post the originals here as well.
There’s something soothing about finishing a piece like this- I use a round nib pen, and FW inks for the outlines; the color is all watercolor paint. The process itself, working with pen and ink- it’s a kind of meditative state. Some of the sheets are aged paper, burnt and stained to look old.
And some are crisp and perfect. I personally like the look of the aged paper best. Plus it’s a fun process (see this post for a how-to)
