Finished this lady tonight as well.
Mermaids are sometimes a difficult subject. What sort of fish are they? and are they dugongs or the sirens of myth?
And what are their intentions?
I think I’ve read too much Lovecraft to consider making a pretty, or sweet, mermaid. They need to be a bit fishy, and somewhat dubious, for me to feel right about the artwork.
I’ve used a lot of cold colors in her and some very subdued greys behind her.
I also assumed she would have a spear.
