I spent last night watching “the road” and some louis theroux documentaries, while painting with watercolors on paper I made at home. (to buy those or see them, click here)
I added a lot of sizing to the mix when I made this paper, so it has less bleed than most home-made papers do. I also used a completely smooth plastic sheeting to dry it, so I had the option of regular paper smoothness or heavy texture, to work on as a surface.
It took the paint really well, all things considered. I think I might invest in a press, I like making the paper so…maybe
Right now I am using plastic sheeting, cheesecloth, and then a large weight for drying.
The process takes longer this way, but the paper is good and strong.
Basics of how to make paper, after the jump.
Also, some pictures of…paper. haha, I know, fascinating, right?
